Semuc Champei, or it's close by Town "Lanquin" is (or was until recently) one of the most hidden and unknown destinations in Guatemala, Central America.

Once reaching the Village "Lanquin", one can believe to be... nowhere. There is (or was, until recentely) no Light at night, and only a few Tourists Resorts (hostels) avaialble.

It's located in the Guatemaltecan mountains, cone-shaped steep green hills everywhere, with a almost amazonic nature and fauna.

Close by, a River is building small bassins and caves in the Limestone. The waters are crystal clear, with it's typical green/blue shine.

The major cave is a side-river streaming into the main reiver, and it's accessible by foot.

One can walk for kilometeres into the underground River, theoretically until the exit on the other end of the Mountain, but the tour covers only the first few hundred meters, which already include climbing, diving and swimming or walking in ice cold water at candle light only.

Several other Caves (Bat Cave) and rivers offer beautiful excursion possibilites, and also activites like water-ring-rafting or rope-jumping...

The location is defintely one of my favourites, also becuase it's still very untouched by the major torusim streams.
